Virtual Psychotherapy:
I only provide psychotherapy via phone or video.
Individual Psychotherapy:
I work predominantly with adults, 18 years and older.
In individual therapy, my primary focus is on establishing a therapeutic relationship and trust, from which growth and healing can develop. We will work on specific problems that are presenting a challenge in your life or make space for exploration that will allow for a natural unfolding of stuck points. A one-on-one session lasts 50 minutes. Depending on the nature of our work, the sessions will consist of talk therapy as well as mindful, somatic and experiential exercises. This will provide you with a comprehensive approach to healing. I firmly believe that from a place of increased awareness, change can become possible. Victor Frankl once wrote: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” To me, this is the essence of mindfulness-based therapy - where there is awareness, one can choose to act from a place of wisdom that allows for meaningful living. My wish for our work together is to help you heal and live life fully.
Our work together can be short-term therapy to focus on a specific issue or long-term therapy to provide continued support with ongoing issues.
COUPLES PSYCHOTHERAPY:
I work predominantly from an Acceptance and Commitment perspective, where I will guide you as a couple toward what is important to both of you in your relationship, how you want to show up in your relationship and provide you with skills to act with love. I utilize the extensive research done by the Gottman Institute to facilitate more effective communication in order to establish a better foundation for your relationship that is built on friendship and supported by trust and commitment. Sometimes the goal of couples therapy is not about staying together and much more about how to separate harmoniously and I commend you for seeking help in doing so. I will help you establish your goals and move toward what is important to you whether your intention is staying together or separating. Furthermore, couples may not always include two partners and I am happy to help you in working out, identifying and/or guiding your alternative relationship.
“The feeling of love comes and goes on a whim; you can't control it. But the action of love is something you can do, regardless of how you are feeling.”
― Russ Harris
“Trust is built in very small moments, which I call 'sliding door' moments. In any interaction, there is a possibility of connecting with your partner or turning away from your partner. One such moment is not important, but if you're always choosing to turn away, then trust erodes in a relationship- very gradually, very slowly.”
― John Gottman
Ecotherapy:
At times, I provide individual mindful walks or Ecotherapy. Although the therapy room can be a safe and containing space, at times it is more beneficial to be in nature. Mindful walks last 50 minutes and otherwise have a similar structure to indoor individual therapy with a focus on building present-moment awareness. Ecotherapy is at least 50 minutes and will focus on a deeper connection to nature and self. Through nature we will explore challenges and struggles. Nature will guide you to draw on your strengths and facilitate your inner healing. I may ask you to bring a journal or spend silent time with nature. Please inquire if interested.
Group Psychotherapy:
On different occasions I will provide group psychotherapy focusing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness as well as EMDR for addiction.
I have facilitated groups since 2009.
If you are interested in group psychotherapy, please feel free to let me know.
EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL EVALUATION:
I provide psychological evaluation to determine the need for a support animal as well as documentation.
Supervision/Consultation:
I provide consultation for licensed and unlicensed clinicians in order to help them integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy into their practice. I have discovered my passion for consulting and supervising budding psychologists five years ago. What a wonderful experience it is to see a clinician grow and forge their own path. It has been an amazing journey so far and I have been enjoying every minute of teaching, consulting and mentoring clinicians. I work strictly from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approach. Thus, having some knowledge of this theory is required.
our Journey
together
I wholeheartedly believe that the therapy room must be a safe space for exploration and healing. Thus, I employ a warm, relational and compassionate approach grounded in curiosity, mindful awareness and attunement in order to allow for our journey to unfold. I will provide you with the opportunity to choose your pace while guiding you steadily and gently toward a vital and meaningful life. I do this by paying close attention to what reveals itself in the present moment, while exploring what truly matters to you and helping you make real changes in your life. I will help you broaden your perspective, form a new relationship with yourself and others as well as be fully alive, discovering a life worth living.
“Nothing is more precious than being in the present moment.
Fully alive, fully aware.”
– Thich Nhat Hanh
I am dedicated to my clients and passionate about our work together. At times, working together means trusting in the process even when things might seem to be getting worse. It might mean finding courage in following through on goals. It will mean allowing for struggles and barriers while learning how to see them as part of the bigger picture and growth. I believe in the work we do, I love the work we do and I look forward to walking this journey with you; not as a teacher or guide, but rather walking next to you holding space for a new perspective.
Let’s walk this walk together!
